Motorcycles and Cold Mornings…Brrr!
My wife thinks I’m crazy. Maybe she’s right, I don’t know.
What am I talking about?
If you have been one of my valued members for any length
of time, then you know I love riding my motorcycle. There
are few activities in my life that I take as much pleasure in.
Whether it’s just across town or an all day ride, I just
love to get in the saddle, turning the key, start it up
and listen to the throaty sound as it warms up.
I’m sure my neighbors hate me when I go out early. In fact,
just this past Friday I got on the road at 6:30 am. I can
imaging I woke one or two people…
Oh, and it was only 33 degrees F. THAT was frigid! LOL!
Well worth it though, let me tell you. Especially since I
didn’t get much riding time in over the past two years.
When early spring came around, I decided that this year I
was going to get out more.
I ride a 1995 Suzuki Intruder VS1400. I have owned it since
1999. And it’s a great bike. But, as any older vehicle, it
had a few issues that needed to be addressed. Since I had
not ridden much the previous two years I pretty much ignored
the maintenance required. So I decided to put it in the
shop and address everything.
So as I am riding on that VERY frigid morning, shivering
in the saddle…with a VERY large grin on my face…I was
thinking about how, just by doing the right thing for my
bike, how much more I will get out of it.
The other thing I love about riding is that it clears the
clutter out of my head and allows me to see things clearly.
I do my best brainstorming while I am riding.
I got to thinking about my business. Specifically, about
different ways to build my list even more. Which of my list
building efforts are working, which can use improvement, etc.
But it dawned on me that I was ignoring something very
obvious…and it wasn’t about list building. It was about
improving profits from the lists I already have.
It’s simple mathematics, really. Small increases in your
conversion can add up to big dollars. It makes sense - what’s
the point of building a bigger list if you don’t know how
to profit from the one you already have?
Gary Ambrose and Keith Wellman are both friends of mine.
Recently they held a List Building and Profit workshop that
people paid $997 to attend. That’s a bargain right there.
These two guys KNOW how to build and profit from their lists.
